Help & Support

How can we help?

Find answers to common questions, or reach out and we'll get back to you.

Getting started

How do I add clothes to my wardrobe?

Tap the + button on the Wardrobe screen and choose either your camera or photo library. For best results, photograph items flat on a clean surface or hanging against a plain background.

You can add multiple items at once — the app will detect and crop each garment individually from the photo.

Tip: Our AI reads fabric labels, tags, and brand markings in photos, so including them in the frame can improve how accurately your item is categorized.
What is the AI Stylist and how does it work?

When you add a clothing item, the AI Stylist analyzes the photo to automatically detect the garment type, color, fit, material, and style. This data is used to power outfit suggestions, avoid wardrobe repeats, and build personalized looks.

For outfit generation, the AI reviews your entire wardrobe and combines items based on color harmony, occasion, weather, and your personal style preferences.

What are the style personalities?

During onboarding you choose one or more style aesthetics — such as Minimalist, Classic, Streetwear, or Athleisure. These are sent to the AI with every outfit request to keep suggestions aligned with your personal taste. You can update them any time in Profile → Style Preferences.

What is the reference photo used for?

The reference photo is an optional full-body photo of yourself. When added, it allows Fabra to generate a photorealistic image of you wearing a suggested outfit. You can add or remove it at any time in Profile → Settings.

This photo is stored only on your device and is sent to our AI provider solely during outfit photo generation — it is not used for any other purpose.

What is the AI Support Chat?

Ask AI, found in the Help tab, is a chat assistant that answers questions about how to use Fabra — no need to leave the app or search for an FAQ. It's limited to 10 sessions per day, resetting at 3 AM CST.

What are Guided Feature Tours?

Step-by-step walkthroughs for key features like Trip Planner and the Outfit Builder. Find them in the Help tab under Guided Tours, and replay any of them at any time.

Wardrobe & outfits

My item was categorized incorrectly. Can I fix it?

Yes. Tap any wardrobe item to open its detail view, then tap Edit to change the category, name, color, fit, or any other attribute. Changes take effect immediately and the updated data is used for future outfit suggestions.

The app detected multiple items in one photo. What do I do?

When the AI detects more than one garment in a photo, it will offer individual crops for each item. You can accept or discard each crop before they're saved to your wardrobe.

How do I delete a wardrobe item or outfit?

For wardrobe items: open the item's detail view and tap the delete (trash) icon.

For outfits: open the outfit detail view and tap the delete option in the menu.

Deletion removes both the database entry and the associated image files from your device immediately.

What is Builder Mode?

Open any AI-suggested outfit and switch to Builder mode to tap and swap individual pieces — mix in other wardrobe items or catalog picks without regenerating the whole look. Your edits are saved to that outfit automatically.

What does "Tell Us Why" do when I rate an outfit?

After rating a suggested outfit, you can add a short reason — like "Feels like me" or "Colors clash." That feedback is used alongside your rating to sharpen future outfit suggestions and your wardrobe analysis.

What is Wardrobe Analysis & Score?

Found in the Wardrobe tab, this gives your closet a letter grade and a score out of 100, shows how many outfit combinations you can currently build, and offers tips on what to add next to round out your wardrobe.

What is the Outfit Planner?

The Outfit Planner lets you schedule looks for specific days. It shows a 7-day weather forecast (with your permission to access location) and can automatically suggest outfits for the week based on your calendar occasions and wardrobe history.

What is Trip Planner, and how is it different from the Outfit Planner?

Trip Planner builds a packing plan for travel: add a destination, activities, and dates, and Fabra suggests outfits from your wardrobe matched to the weather forecast at your destination. Choose day-by-day scheduling or flexible packing-by-activity, then export your list as a PDF. The regular Outfit Planner, by contrast, plans your everyday week at home.

Why isn't the weather showing in the Planner?

The Planner uses your device location to fetch a local weather forecast. Make sure Fabra has Location permission enabled:

  • iOS: Settings → Fabra → Location → While Using the App
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Fabra → Permissions → Location → Allow while using app

Weather data is cached for up to 12 hours. Pull down to refresh if the forecast looks stale.

Cloud backup & sync

What is Cloud Backup?

Cloud Backup is an optional way to back up your wardrobe, outfits, and preferences so you don't lose them if you lose your device, and to keep the same wardrobe in sync if you use Fabra on more than one device. It's off by default — Fabra works fully without an account.

How do I turn on Cloud Backup?

Go to Profile → Settings → Cloud Backup and tap Set Up Cloud Backup. Sign in with Apple or Google to link your account, then tap Sync Now to run your first backup.

Which devices and platforms support Cloud Backup?

Cloud Backup is currently iOS-only. If Cloud Backup shows as unavailable, make sure you're on the latest version of the app and that your device supports Apple's App Attest (most devices on a recent iOS version do).

Does Cloud Backup use my cellular data?

By default, Cloud Backup only runs on Wi-Fi. You can allow it over cellular too by turning off Sync on Wi-Fi only in Profile → Settings → Cloud Backup.

How do I turn off or disconnect Cloud Backup?

Go to Profile → Settings → Cloud Backup and tap Disconnect Backup. This stops future syncing from that device but keeps your existing backup and linked email intact, so you can reconnect later.

If you want your cloud backup permanently deleted instead, use Delete Account at the bottom of Settings — that removes your S3 backup and linked email automatically, right away.

My sync isn't working. What should I check?

Sync runs automatically when the app opens or is backgrounded. If it seems stuck:

  • Check your internet connection, and confirm you're on Wi-Fi if "Sync on Wi-Fi only" is enabled
  • Check Last synced and any error message in Profile → Settings → Cloud Backup
  • Tap Sync Now to retry manually

If it keeps failing, contact us and include the error message shown.

Usage limits

Are there limits on AI features?

Yes. To keep the service running smoothly, Fabra has daily and monthly limits on AI-powered features such as wardrobe analysis, outfit generation, and outfit photo creation. Your current usage is visible in Profile → Settings.

When do limits reset?

Daily limits reset at 3 AM CST each day. Monthly limits reset at the start of each calendar month.

I hit a limit unexpectedly. What happened?

Some AI operations count toward more than one limit at the same time (for example, adding a wardrobe item uses both a daily analysis slot and a monthly analysis slot). If you're seeing a limit message earlier than expected, check your usage breakdown in Profile → Settings. If something looks wrong, contact us and we'll take a look.

Privacy & data

Where is my wardrobe data stored?

By default, all wardrobe photos, outfit data, wear history, and preferences are stored locally on your device, and if you delete the app, all of it is removed along with it.

If you turn on the optional Cloud Backup feature (see the Backup & Sync section above), that same data is also stored with our cloud storage provider so it can be restored or synced to another device. Access to your backup is authorized per-request using Apple's App Attest and is private to your account.

Are my photos sent to a server?

Yes — when you add a clothing item or request an outfit suggestion, your photos and wardrobe metadata are sent to Google Gemini and/or OpenAI for AI analysis. These are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS and are not used to train AI models. Photos are not stored by us beyond your device.

See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of what data goes where.

How do I delete all my data?

You can delete individual items and outfits from within the app at any time. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored wardrobe data, photos, preferences, and wear history — but if you've enabled Cloud Backup, uninstalling alone does not delete your cloud copy.

To remove everything, including your cloud backup, use Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This immediately and automatically deletes your local data, your entire S3 backup (wardrobe database export and photos), and the email address linked to your account — no separate request needed. If you run into an issue, contact us at support@fabra-app.com.

How do I opt out of personalized ads?
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or disable ad personalization

Fabra is currently free for all users. Ad personalization can be disabled at the OS level using the steps above.

Troubleshooting

The AI analysis failed or returned an error.

This is usually a temporary issue with the AI service. Try again in a moment. If the problem persists:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Check that you haven't hit a daily usage limit (visible in Profile → Settings)
  • Force-close and reopen the app

If it keeps failing, contact us and include what you were doing when it happened.

The app is crashing or freezing.

Force-close the app, wait a few seconds, and reopen it. If crashes continue:

  • Make sure you're on the latest version of the app
  • Restart your device
  • Free up storage space if your device is nearly full

If none of these help, email us with your device model and iOS/Android version so we can investigate.

The camera or photo library permission isn't working.

If you previously denied permission and the app isn't asking again, you'll need to grant it manually:

  • iOS: Settings → Fabra → enable Camera and/or Photos
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Fabra → Permissions → enable Camera and/or Photos
